Kiss with a fist

Add another show to my concert calendar, this time, Florence and the Machine at the Fox Theater in Oakland in November.  Check out this video for Kiss with a Fist, and tell me you don’t just adore Florence! Her crazy erratic dancing is similar to my own, so she holds a special place in my heart ❤

I love me some Channel 92.3 and the ticket love I get from them so often! The Florence tickets are from a winning entry from their text to win guestlist spots contest.  I texted to win (and won) passes to their secret show with Silversun Pickups and Against me that was on August 3rd. I would have loved to have gone, but I had to work and missed out. I was surprised to win more tickets so quickly, but I think Channel 92.3 likes me, and my luck seems to work for them, rather than anywhere else.

I have been curious about the Fox Theater, as it is a newer venue, one that wasn’t open when I was in my prime concert going years (high school to 20 years old) and thus I have never attended a concert here before. The photos look amazing, so I am excited to see what a concert here will be like.

September is for concert going

I am very much looking forward to this coming September. Here’s why:

Concerts!

We are starting the month off right with the Green Day concert at Shoreline amphitheater in Mountain View on September 4th. I bought lawn tickets while at the BFD festival in June and I thought at the time I had gotten a great deal because I didn’t have to pay any extra charges aside from the ticket prices. Green Day is one of Billy’s favorite bands ever, and this will be the first time I have seen them live. The opening act will be AFI, another fantastic band that I cannot wait to see live. We have lawn seats, so it’s not the best, but totally worth dealing with a not so great seat to see two awesome bands.

We are making the middle of the month something special when we attend the Honda Civic Tour on September 17th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. We will be seeing Paramore, Tegan and Sarah, and New Found Glory. I am bouncing in my seat thinking about this concert, and just. can’t. wait. Paramore is awesome and a favorite of mine from the last couple of years, and New Found Glory has been a favorite since high school, and is still on my iPod, played regularly.  I follow both NFG and Paramore, as well as Hayley Williams on twitter, and have been dying for this concert, it will be amazing, have no fear.

We finish the month off right because I managed to purchase pre-sale tickets to  see Jimmy Eat World at the Warfield in San Francisco on September 30th. I totally guessed the promo code, so I was able to get tickets before they went on sale to the general public. They will be playing with Civil Twilight and We Were Promised Jetpacks, which I haven’t heard much from. After seeing all of the charges that got tacked on to the ticket prices, now I KNOW I got a great deal with the Green Day tickets! For the 4 tickets I got, I had to pay $57.05 in facility, convenience and order processing fees, which is much more than the actual ticket price of $34.50! Crazy! Aside from the bitter taste the fees left with me, I am so excited to be seeing Jimmy Eat World again! They are one of my favorite bands, and I have only seen them once, even though I have held tickets to see them 3 times before. I was not able to go to one of the concerts because I had to work, and the other concert we arrived late, couldn’t find parking, and didn’t feel safe parking far from the venue, so we left. Lame, I know, but true. This time, I won’t be leaving, I will make sure to get to the Warfield on time, find safe parking, and have myself a great time.

sleep is overrated when you have a friend named Fraggle

Hi blog-land! It’s way past my bedtime and I should be sleeping, but I got my hands on this here laptop and am now going to town (goes to town). If you can’t tell I am very tired, which means I get an extra dose of energy, strangely enough, and it translates funny depending on just how tired I am. Sometimes it’s running around, bouncing off the walls, talking a mile a minute, other times it’s say really random things just for the heck of it, get into strange conversations and I have even been known to make up my own funny jokes. or at least they were funny in my head. before I said them out loud. and now they really aren’t translating well. sorry about that.

Tomorrow (technically today, since it’s 1am, but my theory is that it’s not “tomorrow” until you have gone to bed “today”) is Live 105’s BFD (a local radio station’s annual music festival) and I got free tickets! I know, I know, I got free tickets AGAIN! I didn’t have to call in, enter an online giveaway, or play random trivia games for these, it was the ultimate slacker win on my part. I listened to the radio station, heard where the Live team would be out GIVING AWAY tickets, and showed up to wait in line and receive my FREE tickets. I know. So. Freaking. Easy. Why didn’t you get yours? There are a ton of bands playing at BFD, I think 35 on 4 stages or something crazy like that. I am most excited to see Silversun Pickups, Gaslight Anthem, Flyleaf and especially The Temper Trap. I have a friend in a local band called Northern Son, and they will be playing also, so it will be nice to see him rock out on stage with them.

I had originally asked my girl Tiffany to come with me, but due to a last-minute amazing interview opportunity that came her way, she is unable to attend. I then sent a late night text message to my MGMT concert buddy Micaela to see if SHE would want to go, but haven’t heard back so I assume it won’t work out. Then, Billy tells me that his best buddy Fraggle (that’s totally his nickname, given by family, that everyone calls him, but his REAL name is Dave) couldn’t get a ticket even though he had wanted to go, so I invited him and now I have a concert buddy, yay!! Fraggle was the best man at my wedding, is Billy’s partner in crime, and has always been an amazing friend to me, so this will be uber fun. Both of my Vegas trips last summer involved Fraggle, and we had a FANTASTIC time, so I expect the same for BFD. Here are some of my favorite Fraggle pictures I have captured over the years 🙂

He’s treated me to all 3 of the Sharks games I have attended, including game 5 of the 09 playoffs, (what what!!) because he is awesome like that.

he likes fun boy toys, and helps Billy work on cars. He also suggested we “steal” Billy’s project car and have it painted for his birthday, much to Billy’s delight!

He hosted a birthday party for him and Billy on Halloween, their birthdays are a day apart, and yes, Billy is dressed like a lion…isn’t he cute?! I was Sookie from Trueblood, and I made a lot of cupcakes haha…and industrial strength Jell-o shots that people STILL talk about and ask me for!

We had a BLAST on New Year’s Eve playing Rockband, drinking a graveyard (15 sake bombs and 5 beers in a fish bowl, and nope I didn’t drink it, I just watched because I was driving, but I was THERE so it counts!) and having sushi!

and had a fantastic time in Las Vegas, not once…

…but twice last summer!

Yes ladies, he IS single!!
